We are excited to announce the keynote speaker for ILASSA 35, Danelly Estupiñan Valencia, Colombian activist from the port city of Buenaventura working on issues of black women’s rights and member of the Proceso de Comunidades Negras (PCN). More information to come.

Abstract decisions have been sent out for ILASSA 35 Conference! If you submitted a proposal for consideration but have not received an email about the status of your abstract, please email ilassa.student.conference@gmail.com.

Abstract Submission Deadline Extended

ILASSA Leadership Elections

With the end of the semester approaching, it is time to elect the next ILASSA leadership!!
The process is as follows: 
1)  Nominations are open until Friday, November 28th 
  • You can nominate yourself or someone else
  • Send your nominations to Frank (frank.rodriguez00@gmail.com).
  • Nominations will be kept anonymous.
  • Individuals nominated will be asked if they accept their nomination.
2) The Election will take place at the last ILASSA Meeting on Friday, December 5th
  • The ballots for the election will be emailed out electronically on Monday, December, 1st
  • The polls will close at 3:00 pm on Friday, December 5th
  • And the new ILASSA Leadership announced at the meeting.
The positions include:
President
Meeting moderator and external affairs, including GSA.
 
Vice President 
 Internal LLILAS affairs, including Cabildo
Secretary 
Keeping minutes, and maintaining proposals decided at meetings
Treasurer
Maintaining the ILASSA Bank Account
 
Social Chair
Organizing social events, including happy hours
 
Mago de Tecnologia 
Maintaining ILASSA website and email listservs
 
Conference Chairs 
Two person position in charge of everything concerning the ILASSA Conference
The role of each position is open to interpretation by the incoming leadership. Feel free to ask the current leadership how we have interpreted our positions, but ILASSA is what you make of it.
